New Video Series on Safety
Conversations With Jeff Lyth on A New View of Safety
As part of my last visit to Canada Jeff Lyth and I decided to record some casual conversations and reflections (in my motel room) about his work in BC (https://www.qspleadership.com/) and about the safety industry in general.
The result of these conversations in here: https://vimeo.com/album/5564629 (Video 1 of 17 shown below)
1. A heretic responds to ‘false beliefs’ from CLLR on Vimeo.
The purpose of the videos is not some slick promotion but rather a fairly amateurish sharing of ideas to trigger discussion and debate in the industry about change, collaboration and the future.
The content of videos have not been edited nor was the conversation scripted.
The mp3s as a talking book/podcast are available for download here: https://www.humandymensions.com/product/conversation-about-a-new-approach-to-safety-with-jeff-lyth-free-mps-files/

You are right Don. The bullshit starts at the top down. Delusional and mindless language as if somehow the people on the ground will believe it. They don’t!

So encouraging to hear someone else in North America that is onboard with humanizing safety. He made a statement at the end of video 1 that I can verify 100% – the guys in Operations and in the field get it. The question is does this Safety “reformation” happen within Operations and do we just leave safety to its self limiting beliefs? “Safety heretic” is a t-shirt waiting to be made. Great job Rob, thanks for posting these.

Dave, glad you enjoy. Wish you were there with us enjoying the delights of North Vancouver, chocolate and BC wine. Jeff is a great guy and so sharp, he gets SPoR intuitively and has completed a number of modules with me. Looking good in Canada and hopefully things will take off in 2019 for them. Things going really well elsewhere across the world, lots of people getting excited about what SPoR can do to safety in UK, South Africa, Singapore, NZ, Europe. So funny to watch the SIA and others simply get more bogged down in dumb down safety, no vision.
