Why good leaders make you feel safe
A safe organisation is definitely not one that relies on rules, punishment, reporting, systems, procedures, checklists, injury measurement, hazard control, authority, error elimination and Zero Harm – how dare anybody call that “Culture”.
Feeling safe and being safe is all about people, security, trust, learning, morale, imagination and great leaders who sacrifice their own interests for the gain of their people rather than sacrifice their people to achieve their own personal success (sound familiar?).
This is one of the best and most inspiring TED talks on leadership and safety that I have seen. ENJOY!!
Does your organisation have a “head count” or a “heart count”?

NO thought for persons, no thought for others, all self.

I think Sinek is one of the worst examples of what leadership is. A journalist with no experience in leadership who does the speaking circuit with pithy pop-psych goop. It’s all about theatre and making money. If you dig any deeper than a fluffy presentation there is nothing there. It is a shame that so many are conned by this stuff.
