MEMBER (AM) IN THE GENERAL DIVISION OF THE ORDER OF AUSTRALIA The late Mr Geoffrey Lloyd McDONALD; Late of Cornubia Qld 4130 For significant service to the community, particularly through improvements to workplace health and safety standards, and to engineering.
Service includes: Workplace Health and Safety; Managing Director, Geoff McDonald & Associates, consultants to industry, in damaging occurrences, ergonomics and behavioural design, ‘until retirement’.
Developed and initiated a range of health and safety initiatives including: ‘Analysis Reference Tree Trunk’ (ARTT), system of damaging occurrence investigation. ‘Information Based Damage Control’, system of reducing injury and damage. Rollover frames, for tractors and other machinery. Quad Bikes Safety Standards, 2012-2014.
Worked with the RAAF on investigating health and safety aspects of the F111 fuel tank reseal/deseal work and retained by the Reseal-Deseal Board of Enquiry to advise on safety aspects of their enquiry, 2000s. Industry consultant and expert to the Queensland Supreme Court. Tutor and Research Officer, Mechanical Engineering, University of Queensland, 1964.

Queensland Department of Training and Industrial Relations: Member, Workplace Health and Safety Board. Member, Rural Industry Committee. Co-Chairman, ‘Safety Week’, Division of Occupational Safety.
Member, Workplace Health and Safety Committee, Queensland Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Board member, Farmsafe Queensland. Member, Technical Engineering Group, Trans-Tasman Working Party investigating ‘Quad Bike Safety’.
Author of over 170 research papers and reports.
Awards and recognition includes: Recipient, Inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award, Safety Institute of Australia, 2016. Recipient, Award for work ‘Ergonomics-Adapting Work to Suit People’, Queensland Branch, Ergonomics Society of Australia, 1992. Certified Safety Executive, World Safety Organisation.
