This week the second student group completed the Graduate Certificate in the Psychology of Risk at ACU. The Graduate Certificate comprises four units:
· An Introduction to the Social Psychology of Risk
· Leadership and Risk
· Understanding the Unconscious and Risk
· The Social Psychology of High Reliability Organisations
This year 38 people have completed the Post Graduate Program with 20 progressing on to the Post Graduate Diploma in 2015. A new student cohort starts in March 2015 with 20 currently enrolled. One of the new enrollees may be known to some of you who read this blog, Dave Collins. The second group is pictured below after completing one of the experiential learning activities this week.
The 2014 Program has been a great success with people enrolled from many organisations in building and construction, mining, manufacturing, health, utilities, community, security and defence. Participants have included managers in safety, security, risk, HR and advising/consulting. An outline of the program can be viewed here . You can read a sample of testimonies from professionals who have completed the Program here.
The Program is delivered by Dr Long (Honourary Fellow at ACU) and a number of Associates and Practitioners in the field. Participants comment about the difference the Program makes to their practice and thinking, the rigour of Dr Long’s research, extensive evidence-based challenges and, the innovative nature of the Program. The curriculum is not structured in traditional style, works in short interactive intensive format and most of the resources, readings and support is provided online. The Program will also be delivered in Europe in 2015 with a full student cohort already enrolled for in Austria, Finland and Sweden.
