Update on SPoR in India, Brazil and Europe

May 21, 2023 by Dr Rob Long Leave a Comment

There have been recent developments in SPoR in Brazil and India that serve as good case studies that SPoR Works! Soon we are off again for two weeks of workshops in Europe (https://www.humandymensions.com/vienna-workshops/).

All of this is supported and linked to a comprehensive learning program and curriculum:

Indeed, the Introduction Module and Due Diligence Modules are offered for free:

· Free SPoR Intro – https://vimeo.com/showcase/4233556

· Free Due Diligence – https://vimeo.com/showcase/4883640

Many resources in SPoR are offered for free:

If you want to actually understand how SPoR works and know its positive, constructive and practical methods, you can read a case study here:

https://www.humandymensions.com/product/it-works-a-new-approach-to-risk-and-safety/

We made a recent trip to India where I met up with colleagues from Europe and across SE Asia to share SPoR with one of the worlds largest shipping companies. And it seems very clear after conversations with senior executives and leaders that SPoR will be rolled out in this organisation.

Most people who actually engage with SPoR and enquire with an open approach in learning quickly understand how SPoR works.

For interest I have attached some pictures of the India workshops held over the week with senior executives (Figures 1-5). This includes examples of the way SPoR uses visual, verbal and semiotic learning in engagement.

You can see other visual examples of the visual and verbal learning methods of SPoR here: https://www.humandymensions.com/gallery/

In Brazil there is a very significant following of SPoR indeed, recently several people have resigned their positions in safety to become full time agents for SPoR in Brazil.

You can understand the dedication of these people by the fact that they voluntarily translated For the Love of Zero into Portuguese (https://mailchi.mp/c780a1e2b697/por-amor-ao-zero) and are currently working on a translation of It Works!

These people know that SPoR is both nuanced and sophisticated in all it does. And they are currently studying their 5th module with 21 to go. This group is so keen, they also meet together once a week to discuss and practice SPoR methods and how to apply to their own workplaces and organisations.

If you want to keep up with what is happening in SPoR you can join the community Network managed by Matt Thorne. Matt will be working with us in the Workshops soon in Europe.

You can register for those workshops commencing in a month here: https://www.humandymensions.com/vienna-workshops/

For those in Australia, NZ and SE Asia there are Workshops being conducted in September and you can register for those here: https://spor.com.au/september-canberra-workshop/

There is a constructive, positive and practical alternative to the brutalism of Safety (https://safetyrisk.net/it-is-not-my-responsibility-to-keep-you-safe/) that speaks gobbledygook to people and justifies brutalism in the name of zero.

There is a positive alternative to the linguistics of Safety that calls mental health a ‘hazard’ (https://safetyrisk.net/the-language-of-hazards-and-psychosocial-mental-health/) and chases the ideology of zero (https://visionzero.global/videos). And, its great to see our friends in India, Brazil and Europe discovering that SPoR Works!
