The Construction of Belief in Safety, Free Workshops July

This workshop offer has been requested by our many followers in Brazil but all are welcome including beginners to SPoR.

The four-session online workshops will be conducted at 9am on 7, 14, 21 and 28 July and are free.

You can apply to participate by email to admin@spor.com.au

Please do not register if you cannot participate.

If you do want to study remotely by watching the recorded videos that will be OK, but such participants will be required to do homework each session or they will be culled from the group.

Everyone in the group will be expected to do some reading.

The four workshops will explore the following questions:

  • Why do people believe what they believe?
  • What role do trust and faith make in the shape of belief?
  • What is cognitive dissonance and how does it work?
  • How to cognitive biases contribute to belief?
  • Why do people believe in irrational ideas like Zero, swiss-cheese and pyramids?
  • What role does indoctrination play in shaping belief?
  • Why is myth critical to understanding belief?
  • What are core safety beliefs?
  • How does risk test risk?
  • How are values/culture connected to belief?
  • How does belief provide certainty?
  • Is safety cultic in its beliefs?
  • Why are safety beliefs unchallenged?
  • How do people know what they know?
  • How can we test an ethic of belief?
  • How is belief in safety marketed and sold?

These are the kind of questions we will tackle over these four sessions.

If you are up for some critical thinking and questioning philosophical assumptions, then this series is for you. If you are not ready to questions safety beliefs, then perhaps don’t register.

We have written before about belief on this blog, just to get you started:
