Risk Makes Sense, Human Judgment and Risk was released in 2012 and helped launch a new approach to risk based on Social Psychology. The Social Psychology of Risk (SPoR) brings together a unique Body of Knowledge that informs the way people understand: work, risk, culture, learning and human decision making.
Since 2012 thousands of people and hundreds of companies have participated in workshops in SPoR with many of the practical tools developed in SPoR being used in many International and National organisations.
The best way to understand the SPoR approach to risk is semiotically. Hence, the SpoR Body of Knowledge (https://safetyrisk.net/social-psychology-of-risk-body-of-knowledge-2/) uses semiotics to capture the relational and dialectical way of knowing in how people make decisions. Semiology is introduced in Risk Makes Sense at page 122 associated with leadership. For a full understanding of semiotics and risk you can read the 7th book in the series (also for free download, Fallibility and Risk, Living With Uncertainty, Chapter 2 https://www.humandymensions.com/product/fallibility-risk-living-uncertainty/). Similarly, in the latest book The Social Psychology of Risk Handbook, i-thou is a complete overview of SPoR and associated maps of learning.
