Recently, Aneta and Brian Darlington released their new book: Real Meeting, Leadership is Time and a Simple Cup of Coffee. This book is now available for purchase here: https://www.humandymensions.com/product/real-meeting-a-book-on-being-in-leadership/
You can read an overview of the book here: https://safetyrisk.net/what-is-real-meeting/
Aneta and Brian recently had a chat with Rob Long about their book and you can see that video here: https://vimeo.com/1081058862
The premise of this book is that we all experience many meetings without ‘meeting’. We often get involved in busyness but never really engage or connect with others. This is often because the risk and safety world is consumed with productivity and performance (eg. HOP) rather than an ethic of ‘meeting’ persons.
In this book we learn the importance of the work of Martin Buber and his foundational idea of i-thou. In i-thou the hyphen symbolises how we move away from a model of us and them to the dialectic of ‘we’. In this model we move away from the model of i-it and the world of objects (eg. safety hazards) towards persons as subjects.
The book is filled with illustrations, practical methods and stories that demonstrate how SPoR works in reality. As we were doing this video, Aneta was off to Poland doing SPoR work and Brian to Egypt doing SPoR work, the next day. Aneta is currently doing SPoR work also in South Africa.
