Sharing The Road Safely
National Guide to Driver Safety 2013/14 – Released
Whether you are a cyclist, pedestrian or a motorist, we all share the responsibility to keep our roads safe. But what does this look like? Pro-Visual Publishing, in collaboration with the Motor Traders Associations across Australia, the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce (VACC), Tasmanian Automobile Chamber of Commerce (TACC) as well as the Amy Gillett Foundation and Keys to Drive, has just released the newest edition of the National Guide to Driver Safety. This guide aims to provide drivers and other road users with information on safe practices and driving habits.
Opinions differ on what is correct when it comes to driving habits. However, this guide presents a basic list to help drivers conform to what most professional driving instructors teach. This includes what to look at when preparing to drive, indicating, observing different conditions as well as general road rules. When it comes to car safety, all new cars sold in Australia have to meet minimum specified safety standards, and over the years, the safety of new cars has continued to improve.
Other topics outlined in this guide include dealing with unfamiliar situations, driving in the rain, and sharing the road with cyclists and pedestrians. Unfamiliar or difficult situations, like driving in the rain or driving new roads, can be scary for everyone in the car. Some tactics for becoming adaptable and learning to handle various situations quickly are imperative to safe driving and keeping our roads safe.
“I would like to thank all of the sponsors of the National Guide to Driver Safety 2013/14. Their support has made it possible for the guide to be distributed free of charge”, said John Hutchings, CEO, Pro-Visual Publishing.
