This week has been a great time of learning, coaching, understanding and meeting two colleagues from Romania (Decebal and Manu) wishing to learn more about SPoR in Canberra.
It has been a week of conversation about how SPoR can help shape a new approach to risk in Eastern Europe. Dec and Manu are Directors of Corporate Dynamics. (https://www.corporatedynamics.ro/) Based in Bucharest, Romania, Decebal runs training and consulting projects in cultural transformation, safety leadership and Social Psychology of Risk (https://www.linkedin.com/in/decebalmarin/). Manu is a managing partner of the business and specialises in research, statistics, leadership and culture change.
We are only half way through their time in Canberra and have many semiotic walks, discussions, debates and learning. Yesterday, we spent the day with Dr Craig Ashhurst, a global expert in Wicked Problems and Transcoherence.
When people come to Canberra for weeks such as this, it is hard to describe what is learned because so much of what we do in sport is experiential. We learn by feeling, doing and engagement. Here are a few pictures that capture what we have done thus far.
Inside Turrell’s hive.
Building our relationship over Greek food.
So much of SPoR is about living and being, doing and experiencing. Our conversations and sharing have been lively and interactive.
We don’t often agree but we come together in ‘meeting’ wanting to learn from each other and culture.
Invitation
We have many of these weeks of learning and sharing in SPoR in Canberra. The focus in not on safety or risk but much more on being, learning, living and the following-leading experience. It’s mutual, that’s why it works.
We then take what we have learned from each other and apply it to living, being and then to how we tackle risk in our own cultures.
