The Importance Of Safety Within The Oil & Gas Industry
Oil & Gas Industry Guide to Workplace Safety – Released
Pro-Visual Publishing is delighted to announce this year’s edition of the Oil & Gas Industry Guide to Workplace Safety. In collaboration with the Australian Drilling Industry Association and the Australian Centre for Energy and Process Training, this year’s guide aims to provide workers and facilitators with the necessary updated information on the various issues and safety procedures to be aware of in the oil and gas industry.
The guide draws particular attention to the maintenance of plant equipment. It is necessary for all workers to assess the safety of all machinery to ensure a safe working environment. There are a variety of steps that are in place to ensure the plant is properly maintained, including allocating responsibilities, procedure development, work scheduling and maintenance records, just to name a few. The Oil & Gas Industry Guide to Workplace Safety 2014/15 also introduces the Hazard Identification Process which provides a detailed description of the methods and factors that will eliminate any potential threat from the workplace.
Further topics addressed in this year’s edition include the roles and responsibilities of workers who are involved in offshore petroleum activities at facilities. There are reasonably practicable steps to take in order to protect the health and safety within the workplace. The final topic highlighted in the guide entails the importance of shift work and reducing fatigue. It is essential to recognise the signs of tiredness that affects a person’s physical and mental activity. This year’s edition of the guide goes on to identify the causes of fatigue and what appropriate steps to take to protect the health and safety for all in the oil and gas industry.
