Safety Of Young Workers – Graphic Training Videos
When it comes to training workers it is always best if safety training starts as early as possible. However, many employers (and parents and teachers) are concerned about how to effectively get through to this age group. This is the same concern the authorities have had both at WorkSafe and in road safety – hence the range of advertisements, many quite confronting, in which young people and horrific disfiguring accidents at work are featured.
If you take a look at You Tube and search on WorkSafe advertisements you will find a range featuring young people including:

►Bakery: http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=-Ekaig2pJAo
►Nail Gun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfThpHGtDfY&feature=related
►Shoe store: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Yq1bMhOP84&feature=related
and many others. They are a bit like the road trauma adverts but seem to focus more on disfigurement – perhaps that is something young people can “relate” to more given that we all “know” that 17 – 25 year olds are bullet proof and cannot be killed at work.
