VIC Construction Site Safety Guide 2015/16 – Released

There are many hazards associated with work performed on construction sites. Pro-Visual Publishing, in collaboration with the National Safety Council of Australia Foundation and Safe Work Australia, has released the 2015/16 edition of the VIC Construction Site Safety Guide. This will assist construction workers across Victoria on keeping up-to-date on minimising and managing hazards associated with work on construction sites.

While it is important to complete work on time, it is also important for work to be completed safely. Scaffolding provides great assistance for workers to gain safe access to and from the work carried out. Erecting, altering and dismantling a scaffold should be performed by a scaffolder holding a High Risk Work License of the appropriate class.

Fire precaution in construction is an important concern for those working in the construction industry. There are many regulatory requirements that need to be met to ensure that in the event of a fire emergency, safe outcomes are achieved. Additionally, when performing excavation, workers are at risk of receiving electric shock from underground cables. To manage and reduce this risk, workers should follow the four P’s, which are Plan, Pothole, Protect and Proceed.
