Kids’ safety meeting in the home
Tailor your meeting to suit the age of your children. Have a meeting with treats is a fun way to make sure they understand the seriousness of safety.
Ask the kids questions and if they repeat the correct answer – reward with a treat. Here are some sample questions:
1. What don’t you tell people if you are home alone and someone knocks at the door or calls by phone?
2. Do you go home from school with anyone who picks you up?
3. What is our address and phone number?
4. Who in the family has a special medical condition?
5. What do you do if a stranger talks to you?
6. What do we do if there is a fire in the house?
7. How do we carry scissors safely?
8. If toast gets stuck how do we get it out of the toaster safely?
9. If we want to blow dry our hair or use a hair straightener in the bathroom – what do we do if the bath is full of water?
10.What do we dial for the Ambulance or Fire Brigade or Police?
