The latest module on offer in the Social Psychology of Risk is Module 20: Writing and Thinking in Risk. This module brings together knowledge in Linguistics, Poetics, Semiotics and Critical Thinking with a focus on writing and articulating ideas about risk.
You can read more about the module here: https://cllr.com.au/product/writing-flyer-unit-20/
The purpose of writing is the articulation and expression of ideas. There is something unique and special about speaking ideas but also in writing/presenting ideas in a readable, sense-able format to share with others. There is a kinaesthetic satisfaction and learning process about putting pen to paper, in bringing thoughts and ideas together. The study of this module helps this.
Critical issues of: structure, questioning, composition, thesis, audience, research, chunking, metaphor, scaffolding, concept mapping, meaning and motivation will be discussed.
Those who participate in this module will learn about various forms of expression, presentation and writing. These are tabled in the SPoR Methods of Presentation Tool:
Based on this table, participants will select a form of writing/presentation and learn through practice and editing with Dr Long supervising. Hopefully, some of this work will be published on this blog.
In a previous life Dr Long was a teacher in English/History. If numbers increase from the current enrolment then Dr Ashhurst will also supervise.
The module on offer will be delivered by Zoom starting in October. You can register by sending an email to: admin@cllr.com.au
