Update from Easy Guides

Earthmoving licenses update

[Please check the following information in your state or territory.]

Queensland Courses
Queensland 30496 OHS load-shifting courses are set to continue until 31st December 2011.

NOHSC Assessment Instruments
New South Wales will continue to license earthmoving plant operators using NOHSC (WorkCover) assessment instruments until 31st December 2011.

Many trainers in other states and territories also use the NOHSC instruments as an assessment tool in training earthmoving plant operators.

National OHS Act

January 2012 will see the commencement of the Model Work Health and Safety Act, model WHS Regulations and Codes of Practice. It is expected that there will be some changes to qualifications needed to operate earthmoving machinery.

Licence or not, the new 2012 Act requires employers to meet their duty of care and make sure employees are properly trained on the equipment they are using.

In the absence of a state-issued earthmoving licence, Easy Guides believes that the RII09 Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package will provide the units of choice for employers and employees to demonstrate that training has taken place.

New RII09 learning guides

Easy Guides is working hard to create new learning resources to meet the requirements of the RII09 units of competency relating to earthmoving plant and machinery.

While we work on these new resources we have mapped our current earthmoving Safety & Licence Guides to the relevant RII09 earthmoving units of competency.
