Undoubtedly the best anti-smoking ad ever?
Ok – admit it – how many of you “Safety Professionals”, even though you should know better, have knowingly done the wrong thing in total contradiction to what you are paid big bucks to tell other people not to do?????? Mown the lawn in thongs, gone over the speed limit, jay walked (I recently saw a Workcover Inspector do that!). A good friend of mine is a big fan of the works of Byron Katie (I have since “changed the way I think” about a lot of stuff). Byron says: “usually the advice we give other people is the advice we should be giving ourselves” – wayyyyy too true!!
Judging other peoples actions doesn’t define who they are ………… it defines who you are!
Anyway, this highly successful anti-smoking campaign uses kids to encourage self reflection in adults – do you reckon a similar approach would be effective in changing unsafe or risky behaviour at work?????
