When we use the word ‘myth’ in SPoR we don’t mean fantasy or fairy tale because, myth is unique and is semiotically and poetically verified. Similarly, the myths of scientism that are popular in safety engineering are no different. All of the semiotics used in safety systems are neither scientific nor verifiable. Yet, they are believed by faith and enacted in safety rituals.

SPoR has a different view of the world which is why it challenges the many myths of safety.
