There has to be a better way to say it?
I was recently enjoying a great day at the local pool when I spotted this massive, confronting sign – kinda killed the fun for me!
- For starters it isn’t worded correctly – the top message implies that the parents weren’t properly supervised!
- I can get their frustration but why insult parents who are responsible?
- How would this make the parent of drowning victim feel?
- Is an irresponsible parent going to pay any attention to it anyway?
- Is there a much more positive and effective way to do this like:
- “Relax by knowing your kids are safe”,
- “We need your help to ensure your kids have a fun, safe day”
- “Isn’t it great watching every fun moment your kids are having”,
- “Your kids love it when you watch everything they are doing”,
- “Thanks for being such a great, responsible parent, you are welcome here any time”
- “Your kids are having a great time – please don’t miss any of it”
- “Thanks for watching your kids have fun – we admire and respect that. Please come back soon, you may our work easy and enjoyable”
