Robert Long Zero Harm

The Harm You Cannot See

One of the most profound deficiencies of the zero-harm cult is its focus on the physical. The zero-vision quest is a quest to count visible injury rates with no expertise to understand the nature of social-psychological and cultural harm.

An example of the kind of harm I am talking about was documented recently about the phenomena of Roblox (https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2025/apr/14/risks-children-roblox-deeply-disturbing-researchers?). Roblox is an addictive and disturbing gaming platform that targets children and harms them. In Safety language, Roblox is a โ€˜hazardโ€™ but this kind of hazard creates harm that one cannot see.

In SPoR, two of foundational concepts are One Brain Three Minds (1B3M)โ„ข and Workspace, Headspace and Groupspace (WS, HS, GS)โ„ข. Both concepts are copyright to SPoR. It is from these two concepts concerning human โ€˜beingโ€™ that foundational methods in SPoR have been developed (https://www.humandymensions.com/product/spor-and-semiotics/). These methods are practical, constructive and โ€˜workโ€™ in helping people surface the unconscious and making the invisible, visible. The method used is calledโ€™ iCueโ€™โ„ข. iCue is a visual-verbal mapping process that uses mature skills in listening and discernment. iCue is founded in a semiotic understanding of culture (Lotman) and how persons interact socially in organisations. A study in semiotics complements learning iCue methods.

You can explore the nature of iCue here:

All people who study in SPoR commence their skill development in iCue.

To become competent in iCue takes extensive training and education over a period of a year. SPoR has an iCue competency program that includes tools, methods, a manual and skill development (https://safetyrisk.net/icue-education-pack-to-enable-learning-in-the-spor-approach-to-risk/) that you can see here: https://cllr.com.au/product/icue-engagement-module-28/ The latest free iCue workshop commences in 2 weeks and is over-subscribed.

If you would like to learn iCue you can register here: admin@spor.com.au and a coach can be assigned to you to get you started.
