SPoR Convention 15-19 September 2025

Things are shaping up well for this years’ convention in Canberra 15-19 September.

We have some old faces and some very new people to SPoR coming for the first time, from all over the globe.

It is always such a wonderful experience to hear from people from everywhere practicing SPoR where they are.

You can see the planning flyer for the convention here: https://spor.com.au/spor-convention-2025/

This convention we are exploring the complexities of critical thinking, with a focus on thinking through the lens of: Poetics, Semiotics, Trans-coherence, Deconstruction, e-motion and Socialitie. The workshops are not academic but work on very practical methods and skill development.

The convention will be led by Dr Ashhurst and Dr Long but each participant also gets the chance to present on what they are doing in SPoR as well as guests from across the globe getting an extended spot to tell their stories. The mid-week Semiotics Day is a highlight, followed by a group dinner.

We meet in a community centre in Canberra and our focus is on community. SPoR is not interested in fancy 5 star venues or entertainment, we just work on the basics, skill-development as well as learning through community.
