Transport & Logistics Industry Guide to Workplace Safety 2014/15 – Released

 

Heavy vehicles are involved in about 21 per cent of all road fatalities, according to the NSW Centre for Road Safety. It is therefore important for all drivers, managers and contractors within the transport and logistics industry to consider safety as a high priority. While many factors contribute to safety on the road, driver health is an important consideration and drivers must meet certain medical standards. This is one key topic of this year’s Transport & Logistics Industry Guide to Workplace Safety, released by Pro-Visual Publishing. In collaboration with the Australian Trucking Association, this year’s guide aims to provide up-to-date information and advice on current safety guidelines and issues to all drivers and workers throughout Australia.

Fatigue can affect a person’s health, reduce performance and productivity and can increase the chances of a workplace accident or road crash. All parties in the supply chain have a role in ensuring that any risks associated with fatigue are eliminated, minimised or controlled through the creation of an effective fatigue-management system
