Safety for Cotton Farmers and Growers
CottonSafe Guide to Safety 2014/15 – Released
Pro-Visual Publishing has just released its newest edition of the CottonSafe Guide to Safety. Endorsed by Cotton Australia, this guide aims to promote the significance of safety for all cotton farmers and growers. It also highlights the relevant safety procedures and techniques to minimise the level of harm, and to better manage the risks that may arise.
Essential topics focussed on in this year’s guide include safety always remaining the number one priority in the field. It should always be a farmer’s responsibility to ensure their work needs to be completed with caution and care. The guide also concentrates on providing suitable solutions to on-farm challenges for farmers, whilst accessing the latest information and research to assist cotton growers to better manage their areas. This is achieved through a free online information system, myBMP (Best Management Practice program), which in addition provides multiple handy tips and advice for growers to fulfil their on- farm practice requirements.
Featured topics provided on the guide include Manual Handling, Plant & Equipment, Dangerous Goods & Hazardous Substances, and Injury Management. All these topics focus on implementing safety procedures when handling possible harmful risks. In order to be made fully aware of the danger, it is vital to assess the nature of the cause and evaluate the urgency of it. This useful guide raises awareness for both employers and cotton workers on the different levels of control measures, workers compensation, and the rights and responsibilities of employers and employees.
“I would like to thank all of the sponsors of the CottonSafe Guide to Safety 2014/15. Their support has made it possible for the guide to be distributed free of charge”, – John Hutchings, CEO, Pro-Visual Publishing.
